Cogne Acciai Speciali and Bylogix project: when robotics and innovation meet… professionalism and production processes evolve…

Industrial Logistics with Autonomous Vehicles, ILAV, is the title of the project co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund - presented by Bylogix and partnered with Cogne Acciai Speciali - which aims to introduce automatic systems for handling semi-finished and spare parts in the industrial production process. This initiative is part of county interventions in favour of research and development to support avante-garde projects to improve the development and competitiveness of Valle d'Aosta.

The implementation of the project, Axis 1 (Strengthening research, technological development and innovation) of the ERDF - Objective 1.1 Increasing business innovation activity, in particular, involves the use of robots with characteristics suited to the steel production context, equipped with sensors and cameras capable of recognising objects and following predefined paths within the plant. Added value of the project is centred in the industrial context where these technologies will be tested and applied.

Cameras with advanced object recognition and LiDAR capabilities for reconstructing the environment in 3D will be studied and integrated on the robot to implement autonomous driving functions. A further innovative element of the project is integration with production control management systems (Enterprise Production System - EPS) with real advantages for all activities both upstream and downstream in the production chain.
