Modernisation work on the bar mill continues.
Following the first phase of work carried out last summer, the modernisation of the Cogne Acciai Speciali’s bar mill is continuing and the recent restart has seen the mill operating at full capacity since the first day of production.
The second phase of work focuses on the bar rolling mill, where new AC motor drives have been implemented to control Stands 1-2, 7-8, and 13-14, complete with regenerative DC Bus and 1025A Motor Module.
New 2000 kVA transformers with dual secondary windings have also been implemented to power the new drive panels, all of which are identical in order to standardise the solution and the supply of spare parts.
Similarly, the new Siemens 1NA control motors of the Rolling Stands 1-2, 7-8 and 13-14 of the bar mill, as well as the rest of the equipment, have been standardised with those installed during the first modernisation phase in the summer of 2022.
In line with the new system configuration, the mill management system has also been upgraded.
This important new step brings the system closer to full flexibility in rolling capacity and improved power performance.
