INAUGURATION 13 DECEMBER AT 5 P.M. COGNE ACCIAI SPECIALI - EAST GATEHOUSE

Aosta, - "The Safety Tree created by COGNE ACCIAI SPECIALI and CONFINDUSTRIA Sezione Edile Valle d'Aosta, will be inaugurated on 13 December at 4.30 p.m. as proposed by Aosta ANMIL Section and supported by the Mayor of Aosta, Gianni Nuti, This initiative is an important sign of respect and tribute for all work accident victims," says the local President ANMIL Mario Favre.

"We are proud to be able to help remind people how important the health of workers is, but also of their families who suffer from occupational accidents and illnesses and these trees set up in all the regions of Italy are an opportunity to draw attention to those unknown workers: those in factories, in the fields, on construction sites, those who are not just algorithms on platforms," says Francesco Costantino, President of the ANMIL Foundation 'Support them now'.

'We fully support ANMIL's Christmas Tree for Safety at Work at the Aosta plant,' says Massimiliano Burelli, CEO of Cogne Acciai Speciali, 'because we are deeply committed on a daily basis to ensuring that Safety and Prevention are our priority . We pledge to the promotion of these concepts outside our company, through initiatives such as the Safety Tree, which focus on these issues, as founding elements of work culture'.

The Construction Section of Confindustria Valle d'Aosta is taking part in the initiative. 'The issue of safety,' emphasizes association president, Laurent Visini, 'is primary for our sector. ANMIL's initiative is commendable and has also been promoted at the national level by ANCE, the national association of building constructors. Work and safety must go hand in hand, and projects such as this serve to keep attention focused on a topic of paramount importance for all companies'.

According to the latest INAIL Open Data, in the first ten months of 2022, 595,569 accidents at work were reported in Italy, an increase of 32.9 per cent compared to the previous year's reports.

"I am grateful to Maestro Sbolzani and all the organisations that wanted to signify with these trees the need to put a genuine commitment at the forefront so that the numbers of the accident phenomenon and of the 'forgotten' occupational diseases are not ignored," continues President Costantino, "and I thank those who work within ANCE, which represents one of the sectors most at risk of accidents, in the hope that we will succeed in capturing the attention of all the citizens who will stop to reflect in front of our Safety Trees.

"The setting up of these trees," explains ANMIL National President Zoello Forni, "was made possible thanks to the commitment of those who have found themselves victims of work-related accidents and who carry out active voluntary work in the National Association of Workers with Disabilities at Work, in order to support families who often do not know what to do in the face of such a tragedy. This association provides real support to face the future, organising initiatives like this, raising awareness among institutions in all territories, but also providing visibility and a voice by meeting students and workers in schools or companies.

Sbolzani's work is a Christmas tree made with safety helmets mounted on a typical construction site frame, but each tree is a unique and authentic piece that conceptually focusses on the objective of combating unsafe work.
