Cogne Acciai Speciali is committed to reaching the highest levels of quality and satisfaction at competitive costs.
Customer satisfaction is at the crux of what we do and this is guaranteed by a Quality Management System compliant with UNI EN ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949:2016.
The Quality Management System was certified by the IGQ Institute in Milan on 30.10.1992 (on 18.04.1997 for QS-9000, on 1.12.2005 for ISO/TS 16949 and on 3.09.2018 for IATF 16949). The certification was recently renewed on 22.07.2021 by Kiwa Cermet.
ISO 9001 covers the entire production process of Cogne Acciai Speciali. Both QS-9000 and ISO/TS 16949 and more recently, IATF 16949, relate to activities for the manufacture of steel products destined for customers in the automotive sector. For activities relating to products destined for the aeronautical, space and defence sectors, Cogne Acciai Speciali obtained EN 9100 certification from the Kiwa UNAVIAcert on 17.03.2017.
The company has been granted product approval by TÜV in accordance with AD 2000-Merkblatt W0 and by MPA NRW for the Ü-Zeichen and CE marks (EN 10088-5:2009 and Regulation 305/2011/EU) in the area of civil construction applications, and has further obtained approval by Kiwa Cermet and TÜV in accordance with Directive 2014/68/EU - PED - with regards to manufacturing processes.
Also with TÜV, approval was obtained in accordance with Regulation 2016/1105 - PER.
Approval was granted by Det Norske Veritas (DNV) for our steel products used in the marine sector and, by the UK CARES Institute, certification was granted to market our stainless steel reinforced bars. In accordance with NORSOK APPROVAL M-650, STATOIL ASA approved our steel products used in the offshore oil industry.
On 14.03.2007 the Germanischer Lloyd Institute formalised the approval of the steel grades 1.4404 and 1.4104 for marine applications to the company (as of 01.04.2016 the GL approval is included in the DNV approval).
On 27.07.2010, certification for stainless steel bars and semi-finished products used in naval applications was granted by Lloyd's Register and renewed in 2017.
On 18.10.2013, Bureau Veritas issued the certification for hot-rolled bars and forged bars, steel grades 1.4404 and 1.4418, used for marine applications.
On 17.02.2016, certification for hot-rolled bars and forged bars, stainless steels, used for applications in the naval sector, was
issued by the ABS body.
On 16.07.2018, accreditation for the heat treatment process of bars for the aerospace sector was
issued by the NADCAP body.
During 2020, Cogne Acciai Speciali obtained validation of its self-declared environmental assertions in accordance with UNI EN ISO 14021:2016 from the KIWA body.
On 21.12.2021 the Laboratories of Cogne Acciai Speciali obtained accreditation according to the ISO/IEC 17025 standard from the Accredia body, for the tests included in the accreditation table attached to the certificate.
On 06.05.2022, Cogne Acciai Speciali was awarded the prestigious Quality System Certification as Material Organisations (MO) according to the ASME code for BOILERS AND PRESSURE RECIPIENTS from ASME (AMERICAN SOCIETY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERS).
Quality steel products for a safe future
Cogne Acciai Speciali specialises in top-quality stainless steels, valve steels, tool steels, customised parts and medium and high alloy construction steels. The entire production cycle is divided into three areas:
Hot Strip Area: this is where the manufacture and first hot processing of ingots, blooms, billets, mould blocks, tube rounds, takes place. Our fully comprehensive facilities include: UHP electric arc furnace, AOD converter, LF refining plant, RH degassing plant, Continuous casting 2000-ton press, 5000-ton press, SXP 40 hammering machine, ESR slag remelting plant Heat treatment.
Rolling Area: an integrated rolling mill is used for the production of bars and wire rod, the blooming rolling mill for first roughing, heat treatment furnaces and a chemical pickling plant for wire rods.
Mechanical Machining Area: this zone uses peeling, grinding and straightening processes for semi-finished steel products and endothermic engine valves. Customised parts are produced and heat treatments are also carried out here.
